This image is an example of what you can do on Pixlr.com. Irene and I messed around with the different tools and compared it to Photoshop. This is what I came up with after I scribbled and then used smudge tool and then applied a gradient.

For this assignment we were told to take a picture and make it into four, then change each one differently to make it interesting. I took a picture of a spiraling stair case in a light house, then I duplicated the image 3 more times. Next I flipped and altered each image the way I wanted to. I used the filers and the color replacement tools to make each image different and exciting. My favorite one is the bottom right because I colored the picture with a ton of colors then chose the "glowing edges" filter. I really enjoyed this project. My final outcome is exactly like I wanted it to be.

For this assignment we had to choose words that had double meanings or words that you could take differently. For my first project I decided to do Serial Killer but twist it to mean "Cereal Killer". As you can see, the bowl of cereal has the kitchen spoons held at gun point because he is fed up with being eaten. I added dialogue to make the situation make more sense. I thought this one was cute and funny. For my second one, I did Fire Drill. In this case the drill is insane and is shooting fire everywhere. The third one is a horse fly! I took a normal horse and added a fly head and wings to it. The "Keep Out" sign added a little more interest to the subject. My forth and final project was Fruit Punch. I made it so the pineapple and orange were in a boxing match and the pineapple won. This was just a light hearted fun one that I just had to do. I really enjoyed doing this assignment because I got to be silly AND creative!

"What is it?"
For my two abstract works, I chose to do them two different ways. For the first one, I didn't think about what I was drawing. I just picked random brushes and colors and just went to town drawing. The second one took much more effort and time. This one I actually thought about the shapes and brush strokes I used. It took me over two class periods to complete this way. When I was through with this one, I thought it looked much cleaner and precise than the first. Both ways of creating abstract works are fun and the finished products look great. I really enjoyed this assignment because I am much better at creating abstracts than a specific thing.

Giraffe
For this project, we were told to find a picture that we liked and put things in the silhouette. It took me a while to get started on this because I couldn't find a picture that I really liked and that I wanted to work on. When I finally found this giraffe picture I used the quick selection tool to remove the actual giraffe and I colored the background black so the silhouette stood out. Then I sat down and thought of as many different words as I could that described this giraffe. That was the longest part of this process. Then I thought it still looked a little boring so I added these cool swirly things to spice it up.

This Assignment was different from the others in that we got to pick our own images to use. I enjoyed picking many different objects to make this image my own. Before I even started working on this project, I knew I wanted to make it some what scary and obscure. I started with the body of a monkey and added the bat wing. Then I placed the bear head and the lizard tail. The colorful eyes and mohawk made the creature look less threatening and some what goofy. The human arm and foot gave the creature a twist. I blended them both with the monkey body to make them look more realistic. I chose this background because it added mystery and the rock just made it look like he belonged. I didn't want mine to look like anyone else's so I picked parts that were not as common. If I were to do this again, I would take a different spin on it and make it less creepy. Also I would add more color and create a fun, happy creature. Overall I enjoyed making this image because I got to use my creative side. This was a very fun assignment.
